Bathurst - Alfred John ''Freddy'' Young, 90, of Church St., Bathurst passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, on Friday ,July 19th, surrounded by his wife , children and grandchildren.
Born in Riviere du Loup, Que., he was the son of the late Lawrence and May (Blanchard) Young.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emily (Cormier) Young.
His five children: John (William), James (Veronica), Barbara (Gerald ) Pitre , Joan Gionet and Robert (Lynn) all of Bathurst.
8 Grandchildren: Cathy (Todd) Morrison, Christopher (Rosemary )Pitre , Karen Young, Kevin(Gillian)Young, Jeffrey(Lesley) Gionet, Jessica Gionet, Adam & Alex Young. 5 Great-grandchildren: Kayla, William, Nicholas, Eliana & Sofia.
His three sisters: May, Joan & Peggy , all of Quebec and several nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by 2 brothers: Lawrence & Maurice.
Alfred was employed for many years at Consolidated Bathurst where he worked in the Lab.
Visitation will be Monday, July 22nd from 2-4 & 7-9 at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, followed by the Funeral service on Tuesday, July 23rd 2013 at 11:00 am from the Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel.
Donations in memory of Alfred may be made to The Palliative Care Unit or a charity of the donor's choice.
