1922 – 2013

Bathurst - Mrs. Rita Couture, 91, wife of the late Martial Couture, of Rough Waters Dr., Bathurst, passed away on Friday (October 25, 2013) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Delima (Couture) Doucet.

She is survived by two daughters: Rose-Marie Doucet (Leon) and Rachel Chamberlain (Patrick) both of Bathurst. 

Four grandchildren: Robert (Melissa), Philippe (Nathalie), Denis (Sylvie) and Danielle (Brian). 

Five great-grandchildren: Logan, Sophie, Kai, Melanie and Pierre-Luc.

Three sisters: Jeanette Chamberlain, Simone Doucet and Irene Couture, all of Bathurst.

Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and grand-nephews.

Rita was the oldest of 21 children; was pre-deceased by an 8 month old son, Alcide; numerous brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank all relatives and friends who paid visits and offered prayers.  A special thank you to Father Wade and Father Léger, all doctors and nurses, especially those in palliative care for the wonderful care they gave her.  Thank you also to Dr. Cauchon for the excellent care given to mom throughout the years.

There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday afternoon (October 29, 2013) at 2 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. 

Donations in memory of Rita may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation or a favorite charity.  Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
