Bathurst - Paul James Kenny, 81, of Little River Dr., Bathurt, passed away on Sunday December 1, 2013, at his residence after a battle of cancer.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late James & Frances (Melanson) Kenny.

He is survived by his wife Matilda "Tilly" (Stever) Kenny.

Three daughters: Linn Macdonald (John Kowtaluk) of Pointe-Verte, Nancy McLean of Bathurst and Shelley Ingraham (Martin) of Fredericton, N.B.

Seven grandaughters: Tanya, Chelsa, Libby, Meagen, Candice, Kristen and Brooke.

Two great-grandchildren: Kyle and Tyana.

One sister Joan Kenny, of Georgia U.S.

Several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by 4 brothers: Cletus, Bernard, Harold, Byron "Bud" and 3 sisters: Sister Paul, Evelyn Nichols and Connie Pitre.

Paul Kenny served as a member of the Legislative Assembly for Bathurst from 1978-1991. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the United Commercial Travelers, the North Shore Forest Syndicate and an honorary member of the Big Brothers & Big Sisters. He was a former president of the United Papermakers & Paperworkers union and a past director of the Northumberland Co-Op and was involved in all aspects of his community.

The body will rest at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst, on Wednesday December 4, 2013 from 2 to 4, 7 to 9 and Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of funeral.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning (December 5, 2013) at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. 

Donations in memory of Paul may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
