Bathurst, N.B. - Sister Anne Toussaint, r.h.s.j. passed away on Wednesday at the Infirmary of the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption, residence of the Religieuses Hospitalières de St-Joseph, Vallée Lourdes Drive in Bathurst at the age of 100, in her 80th year of religious community life.
Born in St-Joseph de Madawaska, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Amédée and Édith (Sirois) Toussaint.
Besides her congregation, she is survived by one sister, Germaine Toussaint.
Two brothers: Émile Toussaint (Lilianne Nadeau) and Louis Toussaint (Thérèse Marin).
Sister-in-law, Antonia Bossé-Toussaint.
Several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by three brothers: Théodule, Norbert, Joseph and four sisters: Ozithe, Ernestine, Sr. Claudia, r.h.s.j. and Sr. Irène, f.d.l.s.
Sister Anne Toussaint entered the order of the Religieuses Hospitalières de St-Joseph de l’Hôtel Dieu, Cambpellton, on October 21, 1932 and as taken her vows to the order on November 21, 1934.
Sister Anne Toussaint was a nurse as well as a pharmacist and was responsible for the pharmacy at the l’Hôtel-Dieu in Campbellton (1938 – 1978). In 1983, after further religious studies worked with the sick in Campbellton before rejoining the community of the Maison Notre-Dame de l’Assomption in Bathurst (2002).
Visitations will be after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Residence, 2144 Vallée-Lourdes Dr. Bathurst.
There will be a Prayer Virgil on Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be from the Religieuses Hospitalières Chapel, on Friday (January 24, 2014) at 3 p.m.
Visitations hours are Thursday from 2 to 9 and Friday from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral.
