1942 - 2014
Bathurst – Yvon Wilson, 71, of the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes, Bathurst and formerly of Robertville, passed away on Monday (January 27, 2014) at the Chaleur regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Robertville, he was the son of the late Georges and Lucie (Boudreau) Wilson.
He is survived by three brothers: Régis (Stella) of Dieppe, N.B., Gilles (Diane Donohue) and Lévis (Murielle) both of Beresford.
Three sisters: Marie DeGrechie (Albert) of Bathurst, Anita (late Lucien Boudreau) of Robertville and Lucia Kenny of Bathurst. Several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by two brothers: Alvin (Exzella) and Ralph.
Yvon suffered from schizophrenia since the age of 20 and lived with his mother Lucie, whom he adored. After over 10 years in Montréal, the family returned him home to Beresford. With his deteriorating health this passed year and several months in the Hospital, he spent his last days as a residence at the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, since last fall.
Yvon, who never married, was a special person who never complained about his fate in life and was never able to properly express his pain. He enjoyed walking and was always seen with his head down to go faster, one day while walking, he was struck by a car who them drove him to the hospital, shook his hand and thanked him and never asked his name.
He enjoyed Western music but his favorite song at the Foyer was "Partons la mer est belle’’.
He was a unique person and will be missed by many.
He showed us the true value of life and the simplicities of this world. Despite his health problems this past year, the excellent care given by the staff at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, especially 4th East and FNDL, will never be forgotten by his family.
Yvon, we will never forget you!
The family will receive relatives and friends after 1 p.m. Friday (January 31, 2014) from Heritage Funeral Home (www.mfheritage.com), Beresford, from where the Funeral will leave for Funeral Mass at 3 p.m. from l'église St-Nom-de-Jésus, Beresford.
Donations in memory of Yvon may be made to Mental Health Society or a favorite charity.
