Bathurst - Gertrude Simmons- wife of the late Chesley Simmons of the Foyer-Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes and formerly of Church St., Bathurst, passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Tuesday, April 1st, 2014 at the age of 90.
Born in St-Simon, N.B. she was the daughter of the late Edmond Joseph Hebert and Monique Godin.
She is survived by five daughters: Marion (late Albert Stever) of Moncton, Lorraine Simmons of Bathurst, Shirley Frenette (Johnny) of Beresford, Rosemarie Roy (Donald) of Beresford, Nancy Schichilone (Pierre) of Bathurst.
Two sons: Roger (Laurent Legacy) of Bathurst, Johnny Simmons of Bathurst.
14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Two sisters: Noela (late Camille Albert) of Caraquet, Therese Hebert (Claude) of Caraquet.
Two brothers: Nicholas of Tracadie, Patrick of Tracadie.
She was predeceased by four sisters: Mari Anne Leger, Sophie Hebert, Pauline Ouellette and Betty Chiasson.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 4, 2014 afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Gertrude may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
