1945 - 2014

Bathurst - Mrs. Joan Lavigne, 68, wife of Robert Lavigne, of King Ave., Bathurst, passed away Friday (April 11, 2014) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Opal (Simmons) Melanson.

She was a former Telephone Operator for NBTel.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Rachael Thibodeau (Rob) of Saint John. 

Two brothers: Edmund "Boy" Melanson (Peggy) and  William "Billy" Melanson (Frances) both of Bathurst. 

One sister, Lorna Romaine of London, Ont.

Two sisters-in-law: Linda Kelly (Lloyd Southern) of Bathurst and Loraine Sealy (late Dawson) of Quispamsis.  Several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by a brother, Raymond and a sister, Marjorie.

There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. 

Funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday afternoon, April 16, 2014 at 2 p.m. from Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel, Bathurst. 

Donations in memory of Joan may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, the Kidney Foundation or a charity of the donors choice.
