1934 -2014

Bathurst - Mrs. Veronica "Vonnie" Hachey, 80, formerly of St. Andrew St., Bathurst, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Laura (Boucher) Blanchard.

She was predeceased by her husband, William Smith.

She was a member of the Sacred Heard Cathedral C.W.L., Bathurst.

She is survived by two sons: Billy Smith (Suzanne) and Marc Hachey (Dianne) both of Bathurst.

One daughter, Lise Hachey (Bill Churnan) of Halifax, N.S. Two grandchildren.

Two brothers: John "Jack" (Jenny) of Waterloo, Ont., and Raymond (Gloria) of Bathurst.

Three sisters: Peggy Doucet (Edmund "Boy" Melanson) of Bathurst, Pauline Forsey (Walter) of Riverview, Phyllis Brideau (Andrew) of Beresford. Several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by two brothers: Edward "Ned" and Kenneth.

There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday August 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. 

Donations in memory of Vonnie may be made to the Local SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice.
