1922 – 2014

Albert "Ted" Rainer, 91, of Bathurst, N.B. and formerly of the Toronto area, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital. Born in England, he was the son of the late Albert Edward Sr. and Mary (Wilson) Rainer.

He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Royal Air Force as a Wireless Operator and Air Gunner.  He was a crew member of Squadron 104 flying numerous missions from Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1947 where he worked for the Consumers' Gas Company and subsequently the Government of Ontario.  He was a member of the R.C.A.F. Ex-Air Gunner W.A.G. Association (www.airmuseum.ca/mag/exag0206.html). He was also a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists for 42 years.

Ted loved Canada, exploring his new country with his family on countless road trips and camping adventures. He remained active throughout his senior years enjoying long nature walks in the Rouge Valley, swimming, and travel.  He was a kind and caring husband, father and grandfather.

He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Eileen; his son Derek; his parents; and brother Frederick.

He is survived by two daughters: Christine Rainer of Vancouver (Barry Ireland), Elizabeth Rainer (Patrick Traynor) of Beresford, and son-in-law, Elan Rosenquist of U.S.A.; three grandchildren: Blake, Madeline and Michael and extended family.

The family wishes to express thanks to the many staff at the Chaleur Regional Hospital and the Manoir Brise de l'Oasis for their loving care. 

A family service will be held at a later date.
