1925-2014
It’s with deep sadness that we, the family announce the death of Joseph Gerard Doucet, husband of the late Elizabeth (Gigi) Doucet. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, at the age of 88 on Monday, December 8th 2014, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Charles and Lorette (Doucet) Doucet.
Jerry was a veteran of WWII serving proudly as a member of the North Shore Regiment. He was also member of the Herman J. Good V.C Branch #18 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He worked for the Canadian National Railway for 38 years. Jerry will be remembered for his love of his family and of his adoring college hill.
He is survived by his son, Michel (Line) of Bathurst and his beloved grand-daughter, Danielle of whom he was so proud of.
Two brothers: Edgard Doucet (Dorina) of Bathurst and Romeo Doucet (late Marina Doucet) of Bathurst .
One sister, Theresa Doucet of Winnipeg (late Art O’Donnel) along with several nephews and nieces.
He was pre-deceased by three brothers: Ignatius (Eugénie), Raymond and Alban; two sisters: Rita and Lorette (John).
Jerry adored the outdoors, riding around the hill on his four wheeler and fixing anything that needed fixing.
The body is in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) in Bathurst.
At the request of Jerry, there will be no visitations or service. A private reception will be held with family and friends at a later date where we will raise our glasses in honour of him.
At the request of the family, a donation, to a favourite charity would be appreciated.
