1928 - 2014

Bathurst - Mrs. Paryse Whalen, 86, wife of Lorne Whalen, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes on Wednesday December 31, 2014.

Born in Grand Falls, she was the daughter of the late Camille and Mary Louise (Long) Verret.

Besides her husband of 63 years, Lorne, she is survived by her eight children:  Leigh (Debbie) of Halifax, NS, Keith (Lorraine), Lorna Hebert (Paul), Carla Thibodeau (Doran), Craig (Louise), Holly, Lance (Barb), all of Bathurst and Trent (Yuko) of Naqoya, Japan.

Thirteen grandchildren:  Jayme (Devin), Jennifer (Dan), Jasmin (Jason), Zachary, Sebastian, Tristan (Brittany), Tierney, Gillian (Cody), Hillary, Jason (Shannon), Krista, Joshua and Hana.  Five great-grandchildren:  Henry, Luke, Nathalie, Wren and Brody.

One sister-in-law, Paulie Verret.

Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her brother, Albert and her grandson, Joshua.

The body will rest after 2 p.m. Sunday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning January 5, 2015, at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst.  Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Donations in memory of Paryse may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
