Jeanne (Chamberlain) Melanson, 87, of East Bathurst, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family after a short illness, on January 4th, 2015 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst. Born in East Bathurst, Jeanne was the wife of Clovis Melanson and daughter of the late Arthur and Lucie Chamberlain.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 48 years, Clovis Melanson, her dear son, Marc Melanson (Angela Collette) of Bathurst, whom she loved and adored.
Her three grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Maggie, Thomas, and David.
She also leaves behind four sisters: Edna (late Paul) Boudreau of Beresford, Rita (late Wayne) Parker of Peterborough, Ont., Hazel Chamberlain of Bathurst, and Lauza (late Gerald) Beresford of Campbellford, Ont.
One brother, Theophil (Barbara) Chamberlain of Peterborough, Ont., and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Sylvia (late Aurèle) Vienneau of Bathurst; her two brothers: Adrien (late Honorine) Chamberlain of Bathurst and Léonard (Sue) Chamberlain of Perterborough, Ont.
Jeanne was a teacher for many years and had a passion for life.
The family would like to express their appreciation and love for the staff at Manoir Brise de L’Oasis and the great support from the staff at the Chaleur Regional Hospital.
Visitations will be held at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) St. George St., Bathurst, on Wednesday January 7th, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and on Thursday from 2 p.m. until time of funeral.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 8th, 2015 at 4 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst.
In Jeanne’s memory donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
