Bathurst – Edmond Couture, 78, of East Bathurst, passed away on Wednesday January 7, 2015 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Benoit and Susan (Jacques) Couture.
Before retirement, he worked as a mechanic for most of his life.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jeannette (Vienneau) Couture in 2007.
He is survived by one son, Daniel (Sylvie) of Bathurst.
Four daughters: Linda Arseneau (Gaetan) of Beresford, Nicole Harrison (Ken) of Campbellton, Marguerite Savoie (Majella Roy) of Alcida and Nathalie Roy (Stéphane) of Bathurst.
Ten grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Two brothers: Gordon Couture and Arthur Couture both of Bathurst.
One sister, Dora "Bella" Boucher (Adrien) of Bathurst.
Several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers: Martin, Emile, Albert and one sister, Anita Chiasson.
The body will rest after 2 pm Monday at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday January 13, 2015 at 11 a.m. from the Our Lady of the Rosary Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst.
Visiting Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of funeral.
Donations in memory of Edmond may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a favorite charity.
