1932-2015
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Therese Hennessy, peacefully at home on January 23, 2015, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was the beloved wife for 59 years of the late Dr. Robert Hennessy and a beautiful and loving mother to: Barbara, Colleen (Mike), Shawn (Gail), Carol, Timothy and Michael (Jennifer) and proud Nana to seven grandchildren: Kailen, Shane, Michala, Nicholas, Daniel, Samuel and Katherine and one great-granddaughter, Maiah.
She is survived by two sisters: Helene (late James), Corrine (Rheal); three brothers: Regis (Monique), Norman (Monique) and Edgar (Helen) as well as many nieces and nephews in Bathurst and other parts of Canada and USA.
Born in West Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late J. Charles and Marguerite Anne (Melanson) Comeau.
She was predeceased by daughters: Kathryn Elaine and Maureen Patricia; and husband, Robert Hennessy.
After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy, she attended Bathurst Nursing School becoming a Registered Nurse. She was always very proud to have been a nurse and work alongside Dad later on in his office. In 1996, she received a Certificate of Recognition from the Nurses Association of New Brunswick.
She was a beautiful wife and mother and loving nana, quick to hug with words of wisdom - "seek and ye shall find" being a favourite. She and Dad travelled the world together - they trekked through the Scandinavian countries, hung upside down to kiss the Blarney Stone in Ireland, swam in the Caribbean Islands and climbed the Great Wall of China. She enjoyed skating, walking the "three bridges" and was a keen supporter of the Terry Fox Walk - participating in it for 25 years. When June would come, she would always look forward to going to the beach where family gatherings and celebrations were held with optional water fights. A current member of the Catholic Women's League, she also supported the Doucet Hennessy House Association.
We will miss her very much but know that she is holding hands with Dad and watching over us.
