Bathurst, NB- Mrs. Mary May Veniot, wife of the late Francis Edgar "Pope" Veniot of Kent Avenue, Bathurst, passed away on Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 89.
Born in Shippagan, NB, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Ida (Durelle) Vautour.
She is survived by two sons: Stephen (Colleen) Veniot of Bathurst, Robert "Bobby" (Theresa) Veniot of Tweed, ON
Seven grandchildren: Christa (Barry) Mitchell, Jeff (Anne) Johnston, Jennifer (Brett) Rivers, Jacklyn (Stéphane) Veniot, Jay Veniot, Chelsey Veniot, Matt (Gabrielle) Veniot. She also leaves to mourn her 11 great grandchildren.
Three sisters: Carmel Matthews of Dieppe, NB, Jean Noël of Fredericton, NB, Yvonne Vienneau of Shippagan, NB
One brother, Raymond (Bev) Vautour of Hamilton, ON
Also survived by daughter in law Robin Cahill & son in law Mason Johnston.
Many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Francis; a daughter, Marie-Paule (Paula) Veniot-Johnston and three brothers: Albert, Douglas and Robert.
May touched many people's lives throughout her career as a seamstress at W.J. Kent, as a manager at Boudreau's clothing, Creaghan's women's wear and Peggy's Clothing. Family, friends and co-workers alike will remember May as a highly-spirited, fun loving, generous and caring lady, who enjoyed life to the fullest. She was also a member of the Holy Family Catholic Women's League.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Elhatton Funeral Home, 187 St. George Street, Bathurst, on Sunday, June 26th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. only. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Avenue, Bathurst on Monday, June 27th, 2016 at 2 p.m.
