1924 – 2016

Bathurst – Mrs. Simonne Guitard of Donald Avenue, Bathurst, wife of the late Ernest Guitard, passed away on Tuesday October 18, 2016, at the age of 92, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.

Born in Petit-Rocher, she was the daughter of the late Édouard and Bernadette (Duguay) Savoie.

She worked as a seamstress for several clothing stores in Bathurst.

She is survived by one son, Roger (Deb Strong) of Bathurst.  One daughter, Chantal Duguay (Bernard) of Allardville.  Two grandchildren: Jean-François (Josée) and Philippe; one great-grandson, Grégory.

Three brothers: Gilles Savoie (Colette) of Laval, QC, Gabriel Savoie of Toronto, Ont. and Jean-Guy Savoie.  Three sisters: Claudine Savoie of St-Jérôme, QC, Andrée Soucie (Hubert) of Laval, QC and Bernadette Savoie of Montreal, Que.  Several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one son, Gildas in 1972; three brothers: Bernardin, Roger, Fernand; two sisters: Gisèle and Jeanne-D’Arc.

The body will rest after 1:30 p.m. on Friday October 21, 2016 at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, until time of funeral.

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday October 21, 2016 at 4 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bathurst. 

Donations in memory of Simonne may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
