George Wilfred Ivey, eldest son of the late Murray and Marion (Vienneau) Ivey died at his home in Gold River, BC on December 20, 2017 at the age of 69.
Born and raised in Bathurst, NB he worked as a miner across Canada and Australia before settling down in the forest industry in British Columbia where he worked as a millwright until illness overcame him about 6 years ago.
He was semi-professional guitarist all of his life and played at countless dances. He hunted a bit but mostly liked fishing. He enjoyed a game of crib and basically read a book a day his whole life.
George never married. He practiced strict catch and release and did not buy something when he could simply borrow it.
His parents are gone but he is survived by his siblings who are scattered across the country.
There was no funeral. A ceremony was held for him on December 23rd, 2017 at the Royal Canadian Legion where the flags flew at half mast in his honor. His many many friends will miss him. He was genuinely friendly, kind, generous, forgiving and very funny.
