Simon Roy, 85, of the Robert L. Knowles Veterans Unit, Bathurst, died Wednesday (April 27, 2005) at his residence after a brief illness.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marguerite (DeGrace) Roy. He served in World War II, with the Royal Canadian Army Carleton York Regiment in Canada and overseas from 1939 to 1945. He took part in the invasion of Sicily, Italy. He was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The body rested at Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel, Bathurst. Funeral service was held Friday afternoon (April 29, 2005) at 4:00 p.m. with Father Wesley Wade officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst.
