Bathurst - Glendon Eddy, 88, of Parkside Dr., Bathurst, passed away on Monday (May 2, 2005) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Chesley and Grace (Cheyne) Eddy.
Mr. Eddy was a 1933 graduate of Bathurst High School. He retired with more then 50 years of work for the George Eddy Co. Ltd in the field of lumber manufacturing, merchandising building supplies and real estate. He was also past president of the Eddy Group Company.
A former city councilor, he was the first president of the Bathurst Junior Achievement Inc. He was also the chairperson of a number of organizations, including the Nepisiguit River Salmon Fishing Club, Highland View Cemetery, the Atlantic Provinces Transportation Commission, the Atlantic Provinces Canadian Manufacturers' Association, the Bathurst Chamber of Commerce, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, and the Bathurst High School Home and School Associations and was formerly a director of Atlantic Wholesalers, Master Mason of Lodge St. John, No. 27, F&AM, Bathurst. He received the Paul Harris Award and became a Freeman of the City of Bathurst in 1993.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, the former Jean Willis, in 2001.

Ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friend at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday (May 5, 2005) at 2:00 p.m. from the First United Church, St. Patrick St. Burial will be in the United Cemetery, Bridge St., in Bathurst. For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to the Donald Eddy Memorial Hall Building Fund or a favorite charity.
