It is with great sadness that we, the family of David Gallagher, of Bathurst, announce the passing of our beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather on Sunday August 12, 2018.
David will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 yrs. Linda (Vienneau) Gallagher, daughters, Tracey Gallagher (Marc Duguay), and Marilyn Saulnier (Richard), both of Bathurst. And also by his sister Marilyn McManus (Charles), brother Roger (Tina), both of Windsor, ON. His brothers Earl (Evelyn) of Woodstock, NB and Rachel (Peter) of Oshawa, ON. Several nieces and nephews.
He also leaves behind his three beloved grandchildren, Justin, Kathleen and Riley.
He was predeceased by brothers Robert, William, John, Oscar, Albert, Leo, Bernard, and sister Blanche.
David had a great appreciation of the beauty of nature around him, and he had many talents including being a gifted writer. He worked at Brunswick Mines for 38 yrs. and during his time there, he created the BM&S Bulletin wherein he portrayed through words and photographs, the life and the personalities of the employees that worked there. He was very proud of the Bulletin, and it brought him as well as others much joy throughout his career.
He also wrote several books including the documentary of the closure of Heath Steele Mines.
We would like to express our extreme gratitude to Dr. Anthony Wade, whose care and kindness will not be forgotten. And also a special thank you to Lloyd Branch, nurse of the Palliative Care Unit of the Bathurst hospital.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. A memorial Mass will take place at Holy Family Church in Bathurst, on Thursday, August 16, at 11:00am.
In memory of David, donations to the War Amps and/or the Bathurst SPCA would be appreciated. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
