Bathurst - William Power, 83, formerly of 380 Murray Ave., died at the Robert Knowles Veterans Unit, August 24, 2005.
He was the husband of the late Irene (Garrett) Power.
Born in Island River, Gloucester Co., NB, he was the son of Robert and Annie (Valley) Power.
He was a Life Member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst.
Willie was a Lance Corporal in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, 1st Division during World War II. He served in the UK, Central Mediterranean and Europe.
He was a retired Canada Post employee.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Willie is survived by his daughters Pat (Bob) Sweet, Island View, NB and Susan Power, Penticton, BC., 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, Willie was predeceased by his son Robert (Juanetta) and daughters Sharon (David) MacEacheron and Janet (Chris) Halcrow, brother Emery and sisters Lena, Delma, Eva, Jeanette and May.
The family requests donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity of the donor's choice. The body will rest after 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28th at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Visiting hours from 2-4 pm and 7-9. Legion service to be held at 3pm from the Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be on Monday, August 29th from the funeral home Chapel at 4:00pm with Father Edmond Chamberlain officiating.
Interment in South Bathurst cemetery.
