Bathurst - Mrs. Barbara Ann Peddle, wife of the late Fraser M. Peddle, of Residence Vienneau, Bathurst and formerly of Dunlop, passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst on Friday November 12, 2021 at the age of 89.
Born in Saint John, she was the last remaining of five daughters of the late William and Rita (Singer) Lefurgey.
She is survived by three children: Bruce (Vickie) Peddle of East Mountain, NS, Janet Peddle Zuters (Kim) of Orleans, ON and Andrea Peddle Alexander (Gary) of Pickering, ON.
Seven grandchildren (Courtnee, Eric, Alysha, Jamie, Cory, Cailyn, and Kelsey), four great-grandchildren (Hayden, Hunter, Johanna, and Spencer), many loved nieces and nephews, and a few special friends that were as dear as family; Gail & Roy Badman, Faye & Peter Clark, and Anne & Earnest Brooks.
She was predeceased by her sisters: Freda Bishop (Russel), Saint John, NB, Gloria Ingram (Ed), Ottawa, ON, Lois Bickford (Don), Kingston, NB, Peggy Lefurgey, Saint John, NB.
She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana and a bright light of joy to all who knew her. One of Barb’s favorite sayings was “Jesus wants you for a Sun beam, not a night lite”. Our Energizer bunny, a special light has gone out and this world seems sadly diminished. She is greatly missed by many friends, neighbors and extended family members. She was a member of St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, Bathurst and a long-standing member of the Christian Women’s Club and ABW.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday November 18, 2021, from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel. Proof of double vaccination and a government issued I.D. are required. At request of the family, due to allergies, no floral arrangements unless made through Oasis who are familiar with the allergies. Donations in memory of Barbara may be made to St. Luke’s St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, Murray Ave., Bathurst, The Gideon’s, or the Lung Association.
