William Gallant, 87, of Bridge St., Bathurst, passed away on Sunday (February 5, 2006) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Kingston, ON, he was the son of the late Fidele and Josephine (Gallant) Gallant.
He served in World War II in Canada with the Royal Canadian Army. He was a former employee of the Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill.
Besides his wife, the former Margaret Boudreau, he is survived by:
Three sons:
Roger Gallant and
Jean-Claude Gallant (Shirley Roy), both of Bathurst, and
Jean-Paul Gallant (Elizabeth) of Halifax, NS.
Three daughters:
Connie Jones (Gérard Thibodeau) of Bathurst
Marie Fortin of Robertville
Jacqueline Boudreau (Gérard) of Dunlop, NB
One brother:
Maxime Gallant of Moncton
Grandson Eric Jones, 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The body will rest after 7 p.m. Tuesday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday afternoon (February 8, 2006) at 4:00 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in the spring. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 7 to 9 and Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until time of Funeral. A Legion Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
