It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marielle (Fournier) McKinnon, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital of Bathurst, at the age of 76. Born in Pointe-Verte, she was the daughter of the late Anselme Fournier and the late Joséline (Arseneault) Fournier.
Marielle is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Joseph McKinnon; her two sons, Daniel (Dianne) of Thornbury, ON. and Marc (Kari) of Thessalon, ON.; her two beloved granddaughters Raya and Brenna; her three sisters, Dorina Arseneau (late Fernand), Angela Guitard (Gabriel), Carole Fournier (François Frenette) and her sister-in-law Salomé Fournier; her three brothers, Gilles Fournier (Irene), Jacques Fournier and Ulysse Fournier; her mother-in-law Doris McKinnon (late Raymond); her sisters-in-law Caroline Jardine (Richard), Joan Hatchard (Ray), Shirley McKinnon; as well as several nieces and nephews and whom she loved so much.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Paul Fournier and Adrien Fournier as well as her brother-in-law, Gerry McKinnon.
Marielle was an incredible woman with a huge influence on those closest to her. A one-of-a-kind woman, who helped to provide a foundation for the people she loved. Always ready to help others, Marielle had made a career as a community care worker. She began her career in Campbellton and then moved to Chatham where she raised her family for 40 years to finally return to her native village of Pointe-Verte for a peaceful and fulfilled retirement.
The family will welcome relatives and friends beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 28, at Heritage Funeral Home, 270 rue du centre, Beresford. A ceremony will follow at Heritage Funeral Home the same day, at 2 p.m.
In Marielle's memory, a donation can be made to the St-Vincent de Paul church of Pointe-Verte.
