It is with a broken heart that Arthur “Art” Legacy announces the passing of the love of his life, Annette (Henry) Imhoff of South Tetagouche, which occurred on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst at the age 81.

Born in South Tetagouche, she was the daughter of the late Adrien and Lucy (Pitre) Henry.

The love Art and Ann shared was so special. They were always side by side whether it was while working in her flower garden or cleaning the garage. She would even drive his tractor. She always had a smile on her face, loved to dance and had a heart of gold.

Annette often spoke of the time that Art surprised her for her 70th birthday at Atlantic Host. She appreciated it so much. She spoke about the surprise for a long time.

Art once took Annette’s late son, Gary to pick up his motorcycle and he told Gary that Annette was lucky since she had just won her car. Gary looked at him and said “Mom was lucky twice, winning the car and she’s got you”. That brought a tear to Art’s eye. Gary had always called Art his stepdad and if Art would ever have had a son of his own, he would want him to be just like Gary.

Annette’s passing has left a huge void in Art’s heart and at their home. The house feels so empty without her. Art has now lost the two people he loved most, Annette and her special son, Gary but he is certain that Gary is going to take care of her until they meet again. Gary and Ann will forever been in Art’s heart.

Annette worked along side her mother at Atlantic Host and she later worked at Burger King once it opened.

Art is so thankful for their time together and the love they had for each other. He only wishes they would have had more time together. It was difficult to see Annette’s personality and health change due to Alzheimer’s but Art never left her side and cared for her in their own home. No one but God could take her away from his loving care.

Only two weeks ago, Art heard Ann yell out “Arthur”, as clear as a bell. The care worker also heard her call his name. Something that she hadn’t done or been able to do for a very long time. It warmed Art’s heart to hear her say his name again. Alzheimer’s is an awful disease, so don’t wait to tell people you love them.

Art would like to thank those who did such a wonderful job caring for Annette at their home. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital for their great care. Also, a very special thank you to Dr. A. Wade and his staff for taking care of Annette for a good part of her life. The home visits made by Dr. Wade were very comforting to Annette.

Annette is survived by her two brothers: Rheal (Gisèle Arseneau) of Beresford and Emile (Marie-Jeanne) of Moncton; one sister, Diane Bourgeois (Ti-Jean) of Beresford.

She was predeceased by her first husband, a special son Gary, a brother Bedford (Jeannine) and a sister Angela (Andre) Pitre.

A small gathering in memory of Annette will be held at their home at a later date.
