Nigadoo – It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Roland Comeau, which occurred after a brief illness, on Thursday August 31, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family at his residence in Nigadoo, at the age of 60.
Originally from Nigadoo, he was the son of Thérèse (Clément) Comeau and the late Daniel «Dan» Comeau.
Besides his mother, he is survived by two sisters: Denise Comeau-Poirier (Roland) of Dieppe and Jocelyne (Dave) of Nigadoo. A niece, Danika Poirier, the daughters of his late wife, (Jayne Sunninge-Comeau), Kim Hopkins (Todd) and her daughter, Cassidi of Ottawa and Brandi Kelly of Saskatchewan. A special friend, Émilie Hachey of Petit-Rocher, several uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Before retiring, Roland was a teacher in mathematics and sciences. He taught in Bonneyville, Alberta for two years and continued his career in Whitehorse and Watson Lake, Yukon. He had a passion for collecting currency. He loved sports, organized and encouraged his students to participate. Loved to fish, hunt and travel. He loved the last five years in his cottage by the water in Nigadoo.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Extra-Mural Program in Bathurst, Dre Karine Thiboutot, Dre Roxanne Pelletier, Dre Natalie Cauchon and Dr. Jean-Pierre Arseneau, all the other doctors and personnel of the Emergency Department and 4th Est for the excellent care given to Roland.
Donations in memory of Roland can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donors choice.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Heritage Funeral Home (www.mfheritage.com), Beresford, on Thursday September 7, 2023, at 1 p.m., from where a Prayer service will be celebrated at 3 p.m.
