It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Herman Joseph Pitre of Bathurst, NB on September 10, 2023.
He was born in Beresford, NB to Ernest and Eva Pitre.
Herman spent the bulk of his career of over 38 years with the Federal Government. After his retirement he actively pursued many other business interests and had many hobbies including bowling, shuffleboard, cards, genealogy, hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Herman also spent time as a Cubs and Scouts Master.
He is survived by his loving wife Murielle Pitre (Lavigne) of 61 years and his son Réjean Pitre (Melanie) of Fredericton.
Herman loved his visits from his three grandchildren; Jessica (Eric) of Moncton, Vero (Brandon) of Fredericton and Vanessa (Tyler) of California. He adored his great grandchildren Abigail, Jack, Grace, Harrison, Olivier, and Alexis.
Herman is also survived by his loving family Reginald “Bobby” Pitre (Gilberte) of Beresford, Léo Pitre (Annette) of Bathurst, Ginette Pitre (Arnold) of Bathurst, Nicole Pitre of Pointe-Verte, Murielle Pitre (Charles) of Robertville.
Sister-in-law, Albina Pitre of Bertrand and brother-in-law, Hermel Vienneau of Petit-Rocher as well and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his siblings: Gladys, Alvin, Daniel, Carmella and Hilda.
The family will receive visitation at Heritage Funeral Home (www.mfheritage.com), Beresford, NB on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 2-4 & 7-9. Mass will be held at the Holy Rosary on Friday, September 15th, 2023, at 2pm with a reception to follow. A private family internment will take place in Beresford, NB at a later date.
The family would like to thank York Care in Fredericton and their many staff who provided great care to Herman over the past 7 months along with Drs. Galvis, Beal and Gillis-Doyle.
Donations in memory of Herman, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Pancreatic Society, York Care Foundation or a charity of the donors choice.
