North Tetagouche - It is with great sadness that we the family, announce the passing of Mrs. Irene Morais, wife of Leo Morais, of North Tetagouche, which occurred peacefully at her residence on Friday August 2, 2024, at the age of 79.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Doran and Sylvia (Boudreau) Aubie.
Irene started her career at W.J. Kent’s department store before realizing her true calling of being a devoted wife to her husband of 58 years and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Karen Chamberlain (Jim) of Bathurst and Lori Lavigne (Keith) of South Tetagouche.
Five grandchildren: Timothy, Joshua, Chelsa, Keagan, Liam and five great-grandchildren: Keane, Riley, Grayson, Everly and Colson.
Two brothers: Danny Aubie (Lori) of Dunlop and Bernie Aubie (Norma) of Bathurst. Two sisters: Marie Hosie (late Dave) of Toronto, ON and Betty Ann LeBlanc (late David) of Bathurst.
Several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by a son, Shawn and four brothers: Ernest, Herman, Donald and Walter.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday evening August 7, 2024, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Elhatton’s Funeral Home, Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday August 8, 2024, at 2 p.m. from Holy Family Church, Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Irene can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
