Richard Francoeur, 75, passed away peacefully at the Chaleur Hospital on January 19, 2025, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the devoted husband of Marie-Paule and a cherished father to Jason (Susan) and Tina (Michael). Richard took immense pride in his grandsons: Andre, Pierce, and Adam, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his siblings: Berta, Florence, Amelia, Antoinette, Lilian, and Jacques. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Eva and Onezime along with 3 brothers and 1 sister. He will be deeply missed by his many brothers- and sisters-in-law as well as his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews and many friends.
Richard enjoyed a fulfilling career with IBM for 31 years before retiring in 2001. He always enjoyed a good joke. Outside of work, he found great happiness in camping at Murraywood for over five decades. He was the best bingo caller and had a lot of fun with the campers. A man of faith and service, Richard was an active member of the Chevaliers de Colomb #12215 and dedicated much of his time to assisting the priest with services at his church.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 2 p.m.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses from the oncology and palliative units for their care, compassion and assistance till the very end.
Richard’s warmth and dedication to family and community will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace in the embrace of God.
