F. Bernard “Bernie” White … 76, of Bathurst, passed away, Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Joseph Bernard and Sarah (Melanson) White.
He was an employee of Consolidated …Bathurst for more than 40 years. He was a volunteer fireman from 1957-1975. An avid sportsman, he excelled in many sports throughout his life, including track and field, baseball and curling. But his greatest passion was minor hockey and especially the youth of the Bathurst area. Bernie was 40 years volunteer with the Bathurst Minor Hockey a position he maintained until the time of his death. Bernie was inducted into the Bathurst Sports Hall of Fame in 2002. Earlier this year, the city of Bathurst recognized Bernie by naming the east entrance of the KC Irving Regional Center in his honor.

3 Grandchildren: Janna White, Adam and Bradley Chamberlain;
Sister: Phyllis McTiernan of Moncton, NB;
3 nieces and 1 nephew.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 10, 2007, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Elhatton Funeral Home, Bathurst (www.elhatton.com). A funeral mass will be held 11 AM Saturday, August 11, 2007 from the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
