Ralph Hachey, 64, of Bellevue Court, Bathurst, passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 30, 2007 surrounded by his wife and family.
He was the loving husband of Helen (Duguay) Hachey. He is survived by their five children: Mark Hachey (Jocelyne) of Bathurst, Carol MacDonald (Dan) of Halifax, Stephen Hachey of Bathurst, Gary Hachey of Seoul, South Korea, and Kristine Johnston (Kendall) of Fredericton as well as his two cherished granddaughters, Elise and Arielle Hachey. He also leaves behind two brothers - Donald (Carrol) Hachey of Midland Park, New Jersey, Claude Hachey of South Tetagouche and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Martin C Hachey and Elise (Pitre) Hachey.
For the past 46 years he was a faithful employee of Eddy Group Ltd as Credit Manager. During his life, he contributed generously to his community in various ways. He was a past president, referee and coach of Bathurst Minor Hockey, a Venturer leader with the Boy Scout movement, chair of the Bathurst City Planning Commission, a member of UCT, a life-long parishioner of Holy Family Parish, a talented musician with the former Bathurst Citizens’ Band and other musical groups. He was an avid gardener, a dedicated Titan fan and enjoyed golfing at Squire Green Golf Club. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as an entertainer at his piano.
A wise man once said, “A successful life is one where the people who are supposed to love you, love you.” By this measure, Ralph was a successful man.
Visitation will take place at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) on Tuesday evening (7:00 … 9:00), Wednesday afternoon (2:00 … 4:00) and evening (7:00 … 9:00). Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church on Thursday October 4th at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
