Bathurst - Elva Laura (Daley) Ellis, 87, of Bathurst and formerly of Janeville, passed away on Sunday (November 11, 2007) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Stonehaven, she was the daughter of the late James and Iva (Payne) Daley.
During World War II, she worked at an ammunition factory in Brownberg, Que. She was also President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion in Rouyn, Que., a member of Central United Church, Clifton and was an active member with the UCW. Elva was an ardent cook in her day and many will remember her down home style cooking.
She was pre-deceased by her first husband, James C. Teed in 1961, and her second husband, Eric C. Ellis in 2006.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She will be sadly missed by her only son; Brian Teed (Carmel) of Bathurst.
Her grandchildren; Robert of Bathurst and Laura Ann Jean of Bathurst, as well as her four great-grandchildren; James, Matthew, Kayla and Kristina.
She leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by four brothers; Alton, Harvell, Lawrence and John as well a sister; Ruby Vina.
The body will rest after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday afternoon (November 14, 2007) at 2:00 p.m. from Central United Church, Clifton. Burial will be in the United Cemetery, Bridge St. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
