Bathurst - The death of Audrey Dorothy (Groat) Davidson, of Bridge St., Bathurst, occurred at her residence on Friday (December 14, 2007) at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with cancer for the last 14 years. Born in Chatham, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ethel (Ross) Groat. Her joys in life were her grandchildren, gardening, tending to her flowers and reading. She was an avid reader of novels, books and newspapers. Audrey read every page of the newspapers she saved which dated from 1935 to present day saving articles that would be of interest to people and passing them on. Her sense of humor was sharp and quick and saw her through rough times and often said “things could be worse”. She always had a joke and you never left her house without laughing. She had a soft and caring heart and always worried about the other people in her life. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Audrey is survived by: Daughter: Beth Davidson (Barry Hachey) of Bathurst Son: Eric Davidson (Carol) of Moncton Granddaughters; Natalie, Lana, grandson; Neil, step-granddaughter; Sara and step-great-granddaughter; Emily. Sister: Lillian Thompson of Bathurst Sisters-in-law: Edie Davidson and Lois Davidson Several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by daughters; Susan (1970), Heather (1984), husband Walter (1999)and sister Marjorie. She was a member of the First United Church, Bathurst. There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon (December 19, 2007) 2:00 p.m. at the First United Church, St. Patrick St., Bathurst.
