Nina Allen--on November 21, 2008, Nina Allen passed away at the age of 82 years old in Calgary, Alberta at an Intercare Chinook Centre Hospice after a lengthy illness. Born in Brockville, Ontario, February 21, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Jack Patrick Stephen Toomey and Ninnah Scott of Dorchester, New Brunswick. She was a member of the Eastern Star (North Division); she played the church organ in Dorchester; she did numerous needlecraft projects'(sewing (quilts, clothes), hooking rugs, cross-stitch, afghans with pillows to match, etc); baking. She taught at South Bathurst Elementary School (Grade 1). She is survived and will greatly be missed by: One daughter: Nancy Sue (Calgary, Alberta) One son: Timothy Paul (Bayfield, New Brunswick) Sadly missed by sister-in-law: Gertrude F. Barnhill. She will be missed by her two granddaughters: Kimberely Anne Allen (Calgary, Alb.) and Taylor Reid-Allen (Thompson, Man.) She was pre-deceased in 2005 by her husband: Hector Spence her brother: Joseph Patrick Toomey The body will rest at Foster's Funeral Home (Calgary, AB) with funeral service in Bathurst (First United Church) and burial in Bayfield Cemetery (Bayfield, NB) in the spring to be determined later (May or June). Any donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Society, Canadian Diabetes Association, Osteoporosis Canada or any organization of their choice.
