Bathurst – Mrs. Teresa “Terry” Bishop, 54, wife of the late Gene G. Bishop, of Duke St., Bathurst, passed away on Sunday (January 16, 2011) at the Moncton Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of Marion (MacLeod) Scully and the late John Scully.
An Educator by profession, Terry graduated from Moncton High School, UNB and Mount Saint Vincent. She taught for many years at Cole’s Island School and prior to her death was an ESL Instructor at the NBCC, Bathurst Campus. She and her late husband Gene also taught for a year in Shenyang, China in 1981-82.
Terry was a passionate and creative person who excelled at photography and a variety of crafts. She was active in her community and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at home and at her cottage in Pointe du Chene. She was a member of the St. George’s Anglican Church, Bathurst.
Teresa will be sadly missed by her mother, Marion of Moncton, and her beloved children; Lazarus, Tatiana (Stephen Henry), Simon and Isaiah all of Bathurst. Three brothers; Michael Scully (Ella) of Mississauga, ON, John Scully (Jane) of Riverview, NB, Tom Scully (Karen) of Riverview, NB. Three sisters; Patricia Mallory (late Richard) of Saint John, Kathleen Whalen (John) of Halifax, NS, Mary Ann Jeffries (Michael) of Moncton. Sisters-in-law; Dr. Agnes Bishop of Winnipeg, MB, Dr. Doris Nicoll (Dr. Robert) of Australia and Carolyn Bishop (late Dr. Arthur) of Texas. Several nieces and nephews.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst. Funeral service will be held on Thursday (January 20, 2011) at 2:00 p.m. from St. George's Anglican Church, King Ave., Bathurst. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
