Bathurst - Harold Stever, 90, of the Robert L. Knowles Veterans Unit and formerly of Lavigne St., Bathurst, passed away on Friday (May 13, 2011) at the Robert L. Knowles Veterans Unit, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Harry and Mary (Lavigne) Stever.
He served in World War II with the Royal Canadian Army in Canada and overseas and was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst. He worked as a custodian at Chalmers School and Bathurst High School until his retirement.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Theresa (Roy) Stever in 1992.
He is survived by; three sons, Roy (Theresa) of Moncton, Paul (Claudine) of Bathurst and Jerry of St. Stephen. Five daughters, Barbara Ann Balzer (Brian) of Sussex, Nancy Whalen (Jackie) of Nackawic, Bernice Booth (Ian) of Ottawa, Donna Preston (Bruce) of Moncton and Lynn Bennett (Gary) of Beresford. One brother, Mathias Stever (Laura) of Moncton. 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The body will rest at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday (May 17, 2011) at 1 p.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel with Father Edmond Chamberlain officiating.
