Lionel J. Boucher, 84 years of age of Bathurst, N.B., passed away on Tuesday January 24th 2012 at the Moncton City Hospital.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late John & Angelina (Doucet) Boucher.
Lionel was a retired Fire Fighter with the City of Bathurst.
He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Doris (White) Boucher.
He is survived by five daughters:
Claudette Chamberlain (Maurice) of Bathurst, Paulette Roy (Bobby) of Robertville, Angela Irwin and Joanne Boucher (Brent) both of Moncton, Gisele Quick of Bradford Ont., the mother of his children, Jeannette (Lavigne) Boucher.
two brothers: Clifford (late Doris) Boucher and Ralph Doucet (Aline) both of Bathurst;
two sisters: Yvette (Alban) Christie and Léona Bourque (Adrien) both of Bathurst;
nine grandchildren, six great-grand-children, several nieces and nephews.
Lionel dedicated many years of volunteering in his community. During his service as a firefighter, in 1990, he received an "Unsung Hero award" for his behind the scenes fund raising for the Muscular Dystrophy association of Canada.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning (January 28, 2012) at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. In memory of Lionel, a contribution to the Muscular Dystrophy Association would be appreciated. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
