Bathurst – Hector J. Doucet, 95, of the Campbellton Veterans Unit and formerly of Varrily St., Bathurst, passed away on Sunday (February 12, 2012) at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mathilda (Cormier) Doucet.
He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force, member of the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Wheten Assembly #0615 and was the former owner of Diamond Taxi in Bathurst.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Emily (Boudreau) Doucet.
He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Hachey (Sonny) of Bathurst;
one brother, Arthur Doucet of Montreal, Que.,
two sisters: Bella Doucet and Rita Vollrath (Larry) both of California, USA.,
three grandchildren: Michel, Nicole, Rachel;
three great-grandchildren: Chislain, Samuel, Nathan.
Several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Bernard.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning (February 18, 2012) at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Donations in memory of Hector may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donors choice.
