1914 – 2012
Bathurst – Lawrence John Luce of Poirier Lane, Bathurst, passed away with family at his side at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the age of 98.
Born in Island River, Glouc. Co, N.B., he was the son of the late John and Emily (Chiasson) Luce.
He worked at the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill for most of his life.
He is survived by three daughters: Anita (Bill Ramsay), Jeannine (Stephen White), Aldea Luce-Doucet (Peter McVeigh) all of Bathurst.
Two sons: Alden of Bathurst, Richard (Jocelyn) of Huntsville, Ont.
Fifteen grandchildren: Debbie, Lynn, Brenda, Arnie, Daryl, Cheryl, Janet, Paul, Beverly, Lisa, Bryan, Cindy, Jonathan, Tanya, Marc-André; twenty one great-grandchildren.
A very special friend, Adeline Leger of Bathurst.
One sister, Lydia LeBlanc of Shediac, N.B.
Two brothers: Raymond Luce (Mildred) of Kamloops, B.C., Urbain Luce (Irene) of Nipigon, Ont.
Two step brothers: Jean Paul Luce (Marie) of Bathurst, Claude Luce of Petit Rocher.
Three step-sisters: Therese Godin of Beresford, Alice Aubé (Gérald), of Middle River, Simonne Clement (Lawrence) of Hamilton, Ont., several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dora (Godin) Luce; three children: Carmella Clement, Lawrence Jr., Marielle; six brothers: Livain, Arthur, Gerard, Alphonse, Alden, Jean-Baptiste; two sisters: Emelia, Martha.
Visitations will be held after 2 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2012 from Elhatton Funeral Home, (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December, 10, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave.
Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Monday from noon until time of funeral.
Donations in memory of Lawrence may be made to the Holy Family Cemetery, Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital or charity of the donors choice.
