1941 - 2013

Bathurst - It is with great sadness that the family of Gérard P. Doucet (known as Gerry), of Allard St., Bathurst, announce his death, which occurred on Friday (October 11, 2013) at his residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Patrick G. and Rosalie (Guitard) Doucet.

He is survived by his wife, Lorenza (Doucet) Doucet; two sons: Donald Doucet (Diane) of Bathurst and their children: Catherine and Jean-Luc, Michel Doucet (Eliane) of Bathurst and their son, Philippe; two brothers: Normand Doucet (Orma) of Oshawa, Ont. and Raymond Doucet (Bonnie) of Fredericton; three sisters: Elizabeth Chamberlain (Eugene) of Bathurst, Adrienne Gilles Burness (Toni) of England and Norma Doucet of Brampton, Ont.  Several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by an infant brother, Aurèle, and a sister, Régina LeBlanc (Aimé).

Gérard worked for Dupond Explosive Company until his retirement and loved camping, fishing and hunting. 

There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday afternoon (October 15, 2013) at 4 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst.  Donations in memory of Gerard may be made to the Extra Mural Program or a favorite charity.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Anna Viola Dugas and the Extra Mural staff for their excellent care given to him at home during his long illness, to his care-givers Linda Pitre and Eric Savoie and to a special and dear friend that came into their lives at a time of need, Gaby Losier.
