Bathurst - It is with great sadness that the family announce the death of Robert "Bob" Anderson, 67, of Munro St., Bathurst, who passed away on Monday (December 16, 2013) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Nixon) Anderson.
Always interested in his community, Bob joined the District 4 School Board in 1976 and served on District 4-2 and District 15 School Boards until 1988. In 1989, Bob was first elected to City Council and has served on council (with the exception of one term) until the present. Bob is a past member of the Bathurst Rotary Club, the Bathurst U.C.T. and the Bathurst P.C. Association and was a member of the Msgr. Wheaten Assembly of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus as well as the 3rd Degree of the Knights of Columbus. Bob was current Manager of Downtown Bathurst Revitalization Corporation.
Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elva (Sealy) Anderson.
Three children: Penny Anderson (Kirk Branch) and Dayna Carroll (Jason) both of Bathurst and Lawrence Anderson (Debbie) of Greenwood, N.S.
Five grandchildren: Jonathan, Tyler, Nicholas, Alexandra, Ashley as well as three step-grandchildren: Venessa, Stephanie and Nicholas.
One sister, Joyce Anderson of Bathurst.
Three brothers: Keith Anderson (Pauline) of Smith Falls, Ont., Laurie Anderson (Hermance) and Darryl Anderson (Violet) both of Bathurst. Several nieces and nephews.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday afternoon (December 19, 2013) at 4 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst.
Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2 to4 and 7 to 9 and Thursday from 2 p.m. until time of Funeral.
Donations in memory of Bob may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. A. Wade, Dr. J. Langlois, Dr. C. Violette and the staff at the Chaleur Regional Hospital for the care given to Bob during his illness.
