Bathurst - Mrs. Eileen Joyce Rainer, 87, wife of Albert ‘Ted’ Rainer of Union St. Bathurst and formerly of the Toronto area, passed away Saturday (January 11, 2014) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in England, she was the youngest daughter of the late Frederick and Laura (Eager) Redington.
During World War II she worked for N.A.A.F.I. and immigrated to Canada in 1949. She was a volunteer with the Toronto Zoo for over 25 years, enjoyed nature, and had deep appreciation of music.
Along with her husband Ted, she is survived by two daughters: Christine Rainer of Vancouver (Barry Ireland), Elizabeth Rainer (Patrick Traynor) of Beresford, and son-in-law Elan Rosenquist of U.S.A.
Three grandchildren: Blake, Madeline and Michael.
One brother, Geoff Redington (Honor) of Australia.
Many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was pre-deceased by loving son, Derek; three brothers: Leslie, Eric, and Norman; two sisters: Dorothy and Connie.'
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be celebrated on Wednesday January 15, 2014 at 4 p.m. from Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel.
Donations in memory of Eileen may be made to the Metropolitan Toronto Zoo (www.torontozoo.com), Daly Point Reserve or a favourite charity.
