Bathurst – J. Hamilton Gammon, 85, formerly of Caron Dr., Bathurst, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Villa Sormany in Robertville.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Samuel S. and Frances (Chalmers) Gammon.
He was a former School Teacher in Bathurst for 37 years, past president of the NB Society Retired Teachers (NBSRT) and the local Bathurst branch of NBSRT. He ran his own Dairy Farm, now known as Gammon Farms.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Besides his wife, Bernice (Ronalds) Gammon, he is survived by two daughters: Martha Vickers (Albert) and Ellen Gammon, both of Bathurst.
Two grandchildren: Courtenay and Emma Vickers.
Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, Clyde; his two brothers: Lloyd, Rev. Dr. R.C. Chalmers and his sister, Frances Watling.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 2 p.m. from the First United Church, St. Patrick St., Bathurst.
Visiting hours are Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
