Passed away peacefully in Hospital, Brockville, Ontario on Friday, May 9, 2014, Joseph Godfrey Pitre, at the age of 73 years. Loving son of Mrs. Neldia Pitre of Bathurst, N.B. and the late Paul Pitre. Beloved husband of Julie (nee Bernard) and proud father of Gilbert (Elizabeth) and Lisa (Mike). Cherished grandfather of Jessica.
Dear brother of Valmond (Louise), Angela Sjonger, Fidel (Linda), Marcella Blaedow (Steve), Lionel (Linda), Alvin (Sylvia) and Desneiges Lavigne (Michael).
Also survived by his sister-in-law, Annette Pitre, by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law in the Bernard family, and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers: Napoleon (Nap) and Emmanuel, and by his brother-in-law, John Sjonger.
Visitation will take place at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville, Monday, May 12th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John Bosco Church, 175 Windsor Drive, Brockville, at 11 am on Tuesday, May 13th.
He will then be transferred to Bathurst N.B. for visitation from Elhatton’s Funeral Home on Friday, May 16th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 with a memorial service to be held on Saturday, May 17th at 11 a.m. from Elhatton’s Funeral Home Chapel. Godfrey will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery in his native home of South Tetagouche, New Brunswick.
Arrangements in Bathurst will be in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home, 187 George Street, Bathurst N.B.
