Bathurst - Cyr Arseneau, 92 of Orser Drive, passed away on Thursday (August 7, 2014) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Edward and Dora (Boucher) Arseneau.
He worked as district manager for British American Oil later known as Gulf Oil until his retirement.
Cyr was a veteran of WWII and served in the tank core, D. Squadron Number I, Canadian Armored Corps Reinforcement Unit with distinguished service, he also was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #18 and received his 65th year pin earlier this year.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying the woods, hunting and boating, spending a lot of time at the Beresford Beach. He was a regular at the "coffee club" at Burger King.
He is survived by his wife Barbara.
The mother of his children Verna Arseneau.
Two sons: Randy (Elva) of Rothsay, NB and Michael (Kathy) of Red Lake, ON;
One daughter: Barbara (Harold) of Dunlop;
Eight grandchildren: Tricia Arseneau who was like a daughter to him, Carrie Arseneau, Jesse Arseneau, Brianne Arseneau, Edward Arseneau, Evie Morrison, Elynie Noseworthy and Emilie Firth;
Seven great grandchildren: McKenna Cyr, Titus, Matthias, East, Maria, Abigail and Ruth;
Two sisters: Cecile "Beline" Veniot of Bathurst and Clare "Poune" Daigle of Toronto;
Numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Cléo "Titi" and four sisters, Alexandra "Titite" Arseneau, Mary "Nenone" Hannan, Anita "Doudou" Kenny and Carmelita Pitre.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday (August 12, 2014) at 3 p.m. from Elhatton Funeral Chapel, St. George St., Bathurst with a legion service.
Donations in memory of Cyr may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
