1926 – 2014
Bathurst - It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of our mother and grandmother, Agnes "Eunice" Smith, of Côte Bleu, Bathurst, which occurred, Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 88.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Michel and Alma (Lanteigne) Godin.
She spent most of her life in Bathurst where she formed many lifelong friendships, including her treasured friend, Marie Little.Her love of reading, needlework and traveling filled her years. We will remember her for her "Joie de Vivre", her spirit, honesty, hard work, loyalty and love. She owned and operated the former Salome's Dry Cleaners for many years. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Chaleur Regional Hospital, the Catholic Women's League, Ladies Auxiliary of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion and a member of the Club 200 Holy Family Seniors Club.
She will be sadly missed but lovingly treasured in the hearts of her two daughters: Karen Jagoe (Byron) of Edmonton, Alta. And Charlene Smith of Bathurst.
Her grandson, Ryan Jagoe.
She is also survived by her special niece, Evelyn Godin, many other nieces, nephews and cousins throughout Canada and Australia.
Her spirit will be carried in their hearts.
Besides her parents, Agnes was predeceased by a brother, Adelard Godin; two sisters-in-law: Bernadette Godin, Judy Smith and the father of her children, Colin Smith.
The family would like to offer many thanks to the supportive staff in the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
A private celebration of her life will be held from Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel in Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Agnes may be made to the Heart and Stroke Association or a favorite charity.
