Bathurst - Joseph Leo "Mark" White, of Franklin Ave., Bathurst, passed away peacefully at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, surrounded by family on Saturday, September 27th, 2014, at the age of 66, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Bathurst, he was the loving son of Yvonne (Bourdage) White and the late Mont White; Beloved husband of Cathy Vanderpluijm; devoted father to Bryanna (Todd) Aubé of Fredericton and dear Gramps to his grandson, Evan Aubé.
He is survived by three sisters: Dianne (Ted) O'Malley, Claudette (Paul) Cormier both of Bathurst, Suzanne (Glen) Crowther of Salmon Beach.
Two brothers: William (Billy) White (Marjorie Phillips) of Mississauga, Ont., Daniel (Maria) White of Bathurst.
He will be sadly missed by his many aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, their children and life long friends in Bathurst, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Mark was a mechanic by trade and worked at Lounsbury's, Doucet Landscaping and operated his own business. He also worked in supervisory positions in the mining industry in Bathurst, Raglan QC, and Wabush NL. He was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Branch 18 Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst, serving in several positions and was past president and a life member. He was a third degree Knights of Columbus, 1935.
His courage, amazingly positive attitude and winning smile during his illness, were an inspiration to everyone who knew him.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, October 1st, 2014, 2pm at Holy Family Church.
