Bathurst - Paul Delicaet, 88, formerly of Parkside Dr., Bathurst, passed away on Friday December 19, 2014, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Cowansville, Que., he was the son of the late Franz and Kathleen (Cusack) Delicaet.
He graduated from McGill University with a Degree in Engineering and was a partner with the former Connolly Construction until his retirement.
Besides his wife, Eleanor (Connolly) Delicaet, he is survived by six children: Anne (James O’Brien) of Rothesay, Leslie (Douglas Reid) of Calgary, Alta., Paul (Nancy Tower) of Halifax, N.S., Bruce of Bathurst, Heather of Rothesay and Alison (Scott Cook) of Ottawa, Ont.
Eight grandchildren: Brendan, Conor, Paul, Sarah, Siobhan, Kathleen, Olivia and Andrew.
One sister, Francisca LeBlanc of Lachine, Que. Several nieces and nephews.
His wife and family were the center of his life. He especially enjoyed visits from his grandchildren during summers at Youghall Beach. Paul was an active member of his Church. In retirement, genealogy became his passion and lead to many interesting travels in search of his extended family.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday December 27, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. Donations in memory of Paul may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
