Bathurst - Gerald Harris, 77, of Bridge St., Bathurst, passed away on Sunday (January 2, 2005) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Lionel and Irene (Moses) Harris.
He worked as a Material Store Superintendent at the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill and was member of the company's Quarter Century Club. He was Past Master of Lodge St. John, F&AM #27, Bathurst, past president of the North Shore Shrine Club, past senior councilor of the U.C.T., past president of the NB Antique Auto Club, past president of the Canadian Association of Intellectually Disadvantaged Adult, past elder of the First United Church, former Superintendent of the Bass River Union Hall, past committee member of the Chaleur Regional Hospital and past president of the Bathurst Liberal Association.
Besides his wife, the former Geraldine Wood, he is survived by one son, Bryan Harris (Janice) of Bathurst, one daughter, Brenda Jacono (John) of Sidney, Cap Breton, NS, one sister:Donna Wilson (Michael) of Fredericton; one granddaughter, Kathy Jagoe, one great-grandson, Jacob and several nieces and nephews.
The body is resting at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday afternoon (January 5, 2005) at 2:00 p.m. from the First United Church, St. Patrick St. Burial will be in the Highland View Cemetery, Bridge St. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and on Wednesday at the Church from 1:00 p.m. till time of Funeral.
A Masonic Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday evening.
