She met and later married Vincent J. Doucet in 1939, after which her husband entered the Army and went overseas.
She left Bathurst to reside with her sister in Valleyfield, Que., and was soon employed at a Munitions Factory for the War effort. Having a command of both languages, she soon worked as a shift supervisor, as Plant Manager where British and required staff who could communicate in both languages.
With her husband returning to Canada, for eleven months, she resided for a time in Woodstock, Sussex & Camp Aldershot, NS, and upon his return to Europe, she was on the civilian work force at C.F. Base in Chatham, NB.

She returned to the work force and was employed by the W.J.Kent & Co. Ltd. as a seamstress and later duties fabricating drapes for the many Kent Enterprises. As a separate enterprise, she had made over 200 wedding dresses over her working career.

She also was keenly involved in the collection & restoration of antique furniture, the house bears this in testimony.
On a trip to Hamilton, ON, in the seventies, she observed her nephew engaged in wood carving, and added this extra hobby to her activities.
At this time she was involved with teaching sewing on night school courses that the Provincial Government, with the Trade School program, had arranged for women to improve their sewing skills. These courses continued every Fall for a number of years.
Fall family vacations were spent hunting with old wartime friends in both the Bathurst and Riley Brook areas.
